What is the Stronger Futures Peer Group?
Stronger Futures is a small, facilitated peer support group for women survivors of Domestic Abuse (between 8 – 10). It is a safe space to share your experiences, explore your feelings, and talk about what helped you to start your journey to recovery, re-building your life, taking strength from others around you who truly understand what you have been through.
How is the peer group run?
We can only accept clients who are no longer in the abusive relationship onto the Stronger Futures Peer Group.
The peer group runs for 12 weeks and is offered in two formats:
Face-to-face in a small group setting or,
Via zoom for those that either prefer this type of interaction or are restricted with time.
Face-to-Face Group
Tuesdays 11:00am-12:30pm
It is a small peer-to-peer support group of survivors of Domestic Abuse (between 8 – 10) women, and a safe space to share your experiences, explore your feelings, your journey, and tips on what helped you to start your journey to recovery and re-building your life, taking strength from others around you who truly understand what you have been through.
Zoom Group
Fridays 11:00am-12:30pm

Many groups go on to continue to support each other long after the course has ended.
Course Aims
There is an educational element to the Stronger Futures Course.
Each week a new topic relating to domestic abuse will be discussed with the aim to help you understand the impact domestic abuse has had on a victim and those around them.
We will uncover:
the impact on children living in an environment where domestic abuse has taken place
the impact of trauma
how coercive controlling behaviour impacts you and changes your behaviours
red flags and warning signs of domestic abuse
learn how to build your self-esteem and confidence, and make friends
Course Modules
The course modules are:
Introduction, who is abused, time-line to heal
Signs and behaviours of domestic abuse
Red flags, love-bombing, trauma bond
Isolation, impact on family and friends
Physical/sexual abuse, coercive controlling behaviour, non-fatal strangulation
Emotional abuse and financial abuse
Psychological abuse and the cycle of abuse
Consequential abuse and stalking
Post-separation abuse
Impact on Children
Obstacles to recovery looking at Housing, Finances and the Legal system
Self-esteem, goal setting, supporting each other
