CEO LUCY BUDGE CHECKS IN TO SHARE THE LATEST NEWS.

I have been in this role for 20 months, starting when lockdown hit. I felt honoured to be placed in this role as it is the window to our centre.

Jodie is part of what we have come to call our “First Response” team. You’ll find her in the corner of the big keyworker office, headset on, talking to women about what they need and what we can offer.

Helen is another member of staff who joined us during lockdown, to help us to cope with the massive influx of women seeking our support.

Jo is another member of staff who joined us during lockdown (and the third Jo on our team.)

This Lucy joined My Sisters’ House as Team Lead for the domestic abuse service in November 2020 – while we were in lockdown.

I feel very proud indeed. And If it makes a difference to even one local woman, and saves her from a life of misery, that’s job done.

We are all facing an unknown future never before experienced in our lifetime. Stress affects our immune system and will have a knock-on effect on many levels, limiting our ability to function and cope with everyday life.

We are in the middle of a global health crisis. It’s a frightening, challenging, and anxious time for all of us. Our day to day lives have been massively impacted whilst we respond and implement the various health directives.

There are many kinds of loss. Bereavement is the first one we think of but there are other ways we can experience loss, such as a job, our health, our freedom, a relationship, our future as we know it. Dealing with grief and loss can be very hard, even if someone has not died.

During this difficult time, there are some practical safety planning steps that you can take and arrange to reduce the risk of harm if you are experiencing domestic abuse.

On Friday 16th August 2019, special guest Dame Julie Walters visited My Sisters’ House to celebrate the fifth anniversary and official opening of the new centre in Bognor Regis.
