Observing International Day of Non-Violence, Oct 2024.
2nd October 2024 marks International Day of Non-Violence. It is a date that holds significance as it is the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a global symbol of peace and non-violence. Established by the United Nations in 2007, today serves as a reminder to "disseminate the message of non-violence...through education and public awareness".
Violence against woman and girls has no place in society. No woman should live in fear or desperation. At My Sisters' House, we are aligned with the principles of non-violence. Our mission is to improve the wellbeing and welfare of women by reducing the risk of domestic abuse and supporting those in their recovery journey. Violence, in any form, is a violation, and we are dedicated to creating a safe space where women can find the help and support they need.
The Reality of Domestic Abuse
Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that many women continue to experience violence in their lives. At My Sisters' House, clients have reported a range of abuses, including physical violence, which can have long-lasting effects on their physical and emotional wellbeing. We understand the complexities of these situations and are here to provide the necessary support.
We believe that every woman deserves to live free from fear and violence. Our team is committed to offering unbiased support, allowing women to access the resources they need to heal and rebuild their lives. Whether it’s through counselling, advocacy, or practical support, we are here to listen, assist, and empower.
