Grateful thanks - Our clients get access to International Film Festival.

Everyone enjoying the Lego Movie in the sunshine, with the stunning backdrop of Chichester Cathedral.

The Chichester International Film Festival kicked off on 9th August 2024 with a spectacular weekend of open-air film screenings in the picturesque Priory Park, Chichester. It was a perfect setting for the community to gather together and enjoy some of the most beloved films in an unforgettable atmosphere.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Chichester Cinema at New Park, last weekend many of our clients were able to take advantage of tickets to an outdoor screening of their choice. As a Women’s Centre who has been providing free of charge trauma-informed services in the Bognor Regis and Chichester area for 10 years, My Sisters’ House was thrilled when Anne-Marie Flynn, Executive Director of Chichester Cinema at New Park approached us.

April, Marketing and Communication Coordinator from My Sisters’ House said, "To be able to give our clients the opportunity to enjoy a film in an outdoor setting, but to also enjoy the sense of community and togetherness that such events foster, was just amazing. When I popped along, the atmosphere was fantastic - with the audience sharing picnics, laughter and sunscreen. There was enough space for some of the smaller kids to run around, whilst us older kids watched the film.”

The lineup of films over the weekend included: Barbie, The Lego Movie, Dirty Dancing, Wonka, and Stop Making Sense. Each screening brought its own unique vibe, from the shoulder-shimmying nostalgia of Dirty Dancing to the vibrant, playful energy of The Lego Movie.

Stop Making Sense finished the weekend of outdoor screenings.

Aimee, a Complex Needs Worker from My Sisters’ House said, “We are all so grateful that we had the opportunity to pass on these free tickets. I was able to give tickets to a mum so she could take her child as part of their birthday celebrations. I was so chuffed she would be able to do this for him.”

The Chichester International Film Festival continues until 23rd August 2024. The festival showcases a diverse array of films, including many foreign language offerings from countries like Israel, Palestine, India, and Georgia. For those interested in exploring the full lineup, more information is available on the festival's official website here.

We're grateful to Chichester Cinema at New Park for making it possible for our clients to be part of this special local experience.

Thank you!
